JOB SUMMARY

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will work independently and will aggressively promote and sell products and services manufactured by the company.  Additionally, the employee will implement leading sales strategies to grow existing customer sales and to find potential opportunities.  The incumbent will maintain a professional demeanor, while adhering to company policies and values with all stakeholders.  Must be team player and able to get along with a diverse group of people with a common goal.

Critical Competencies and Duties:

  • Sales: Working independently, generate repeat and new sales by providing product and technical information in a timely manner to stakeholders.  Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications to customers and proactively recommend items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability.  Regularly follow up on quotes as necessary to close a sale.
  • Lead Generation: Identify key account opportunities and establish strategies to engage potential customers with specific goals aligned with PPS sales objectives.
  • Internal Communications: Maintain and update all customer activity (visits, calls, emails, etc.) into the Company's "CRM" system and submit routine activity reports on customer calls, inclusive of contact information and results of calls.
  • Relationship Building: Gain deep understanding of customer's needs including types of products and services they need.  Ensure customer understands price and other terms including delivery date of products and services.  Educate customers about terminology, features and benefits of products in order to improve product related sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Product Knowledge: Become knowledgeable of all company products and services that are offered.  Remain current on consumer preferences, changes in local codes and product developments by attending sales meetings, vendor training and trade shows, or reading trade journals.  Identify trends in customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proactively obtain and review macro market intelligence in order to keep abreast of changes in the market or trends that are developing.  This may include attending certain seminars, conferences, as well as internet research.
  • Customer Service: Contact customers following sales to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and resolve any complaints.
  • Time Management: Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the distribution team.
  • Miscellaneous: Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience: 5 - 10 years of technical outside sales experience, preferably in the Power Generation Industry.
  • Goal Orientation: Have a demonstrated history of outstanding professional sales achievements that are aligned with corporate goals.
  • Education: Engineering degree desired but not required.
  • Travel: 50 - 70% travel to meet customer expectations.  
  • Communications: Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical: Maintain high proficiency in using personal computer, data entry terminal and other common office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office Package
